Michelmores assisted St Austell Brewery on the acquisition of The Bath Pub Company, growing its 184-strong West Country pub estate
After paying an undisclosed price, the independent company took over four of Bath’s most famous pubs.
St Austell Brewery manages 43 pubs, including The Locksbrook Inn, The Moorfields, and The Hare & Hounds. Justin Sleath, co-founder and commercial director of The Bath Pub Company, will run the Marlborough Tavern, which is now part of its leased and tenanted portfolio.
The Bath Pub Company acquisition boosts St Austell Brewery’s foothold in Bath, where it owns four tenanted pubs: The Griffin, The Swan, The Hop Pole, and The Salamander. Michelmores helped the company buy Bath Ales in 2017, which includes a Warmley plant and a local distribution network.
