Burges Salmon’s Corporate Group provided advice to Drax on an agreement that will boost its UK fleet electrification proposition.
Drax Energy Solutions, a subsidiary of renewable energy company Drax Group, has acquired BMM Energy Solutions, a UK-based installer of electric vehicle charge points. Legal advice for the acquisition was provided by Burges Salmon, an independent UK law firm. Following the deal, BMM Energy Solutions will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Drax Energy Solutions.
This acquisition will enhance Drax’s comprehensive charging proposition for UK businesses and reaffirm the company’s commitment to supporting these businesses in achieving their Net Zero goals. The legal team at Burges Salmon, led by partner Danny Lee and associate Victoria MacAulay from the Corporate Group, collaborated closely with Sarah Graham, Deputy General Counsel at Drax. The team received further support from experts in tax (Rishi Naidoo), commercial (Matt Loader and Lucy Pegler), and real estate (Andy Brown and Charles Gray) matters.
As Danny Lee comments, “It has been a pleasure working alongside the Drax team on this exciting new development for the business as it continues to deliver on its purpose to enable a zero carbon, lower cost energy future. The acquisition of BMM Energy Solutions means Drax can offer an all-encompassing service to electrify, install and maintain EV charging points across the UK and support its clients’ decarbonisation strategies.”
Burges Salmon has a strong corporate practice in the UK, providing legal assistance to local and international clients in industries such as energy, healthcare, life sciences, and financial services.
