Trevisan & Cuonzo Associate Carolina Citterio has written a great article on Italy launching its First Space Economy Law: An Initial Step Towards a Regulated and Competitive Space Sector.
On 11 June 2025, Italy passed its first Space Law, regulating space activities by Italian operators both domestically and abroad. The law introduces mandatory authorization for launches, orbital operations, and missions, with strict safety, sustainability, and insurance requirements.

It also creates a national register for space objects and establishes a €35 million Space Economy Fund to support innovation. Operators face liability for damages and must comply with oversight by the Italian Space Agency. The law aligns with international treaties and marks a key step in shaping Italy’s role in the global space sector.
