MLT Aikins lawyers Scott Markham and Rebecca Penner assisted Dauphin River First Nation with its Chicken Delight acquisition, the firm announced on 23 October 2026. Earlier in October, the Nation announced the opening of a local Chicken Delight restaurant.

According to the firm, the acquisition marks a step forward in the Nation’s ongoing economic development efforts, led by Chief Lawrence Letander and councillors Leonard Sumner, Derek Letander and Ryan Anderson, and serves as a component of a broader economic sovereignty strategy for the Nation. MLT Aikins assisted as part of its ongoing relationship with Dauphin River First Nation.

Chief Letander said: “We’re grateful for the assistance that Scott, Rebecca and the rest of the MLT Aikins team provided. They worked with us every step of the way to help make this transaction – a strong step towards building opportunities and prosperity in our community – a success.”
