Grau & Angulo was recognized in the IAM Patent 1000 2026, where the Spanish firm was ranked as a Gold Tier firm for patent litigation. The IAM Patent 1000 is an annual guide published by Intellectual Asset Management that identifies leading patent practitioners and firms across more than 40 jurisdictions. Rankings are based on independent market research, including interviews with peers and clients, and firms are grouped into gold, silver and bronze tiers within each practice category. A gold-tier placement for litigation reflects the guide’s assessment of a firm’s standing in contentious patent work in its market.

Spain is one of the jurisdictions covered in detail by the guide, and patent litigation in the country has taken on added significance with the operation of the Unified Patent Court and the continued importance of the commercial courts in Barcelona and Madrid. Firms ranked in the litigation category are recognized for their work representing patent holders and challengers in infringement and validity disputes, preliminary injunction proceedings and cross-border matters.

Two of the firm’s partners were listed as gold-tier recommended individuals in the 2026 edition. Ignacio Marqués, a partner at the firm, was named a Gold Tier Recommended Individual for his patent litigation practice. Javier Huarte, also a partner, received the same distinction. Individual recommendations in the IAM Patent 1000 are made separately from firm rankings and are intended to identify practitioners regarded by the market as leaders in their field. The recognition of both partners at the highest individual tier accompanies the firm’s gold-tier ranking in the same category.
