Belgian law firm Van Bael & Bellis hires a corporate M&A team, further growing its Transactions Team.

Van Bael & Bellis (VBB), an international law firm with offices in Brussels, is pleased to announce the arrival of notable corporate M&A partner Caroline Daout along with senior associates Virginie Lescot and Cedric Hauben as well as associates Jens Westerwoudt and Charles-Antoine du Bus. The Transactions Team at VBB is expanding and quickly becoming one of the leading independent practices in the market.

Caroline is a corporate M&A expert with three decades of experience who works out of the VBB Brussels office. She specializes in domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, including deals involving corporate venture capital, private equity, private M&A, and equity capital markets. Caroline also has a wealth of expertise representing clients in business disputes and offering advice on corporate reorganizations.

Caroline has earned a solid reputation over time in the energy, technology, and pharmaceutical industries, where she has managed a number of high-profile and challenging transactions. The “market-leading life sciences practice” of VBB, which Legal 500 describes as “well regarded by public and private sector clients, ranging from multinational pharmaceutical giants to pan-European associations and sovereign governments,” is further strengthened by this sector-specific knowledge. In addition, Caroline is acknowledged by Legal 500 as a notable practitioner in the fields of healthcare and life sciences as well as business, corporate, and M&A.

Caroline comes from DLA Piper, where she spent more than 6 years leading the Corporate and M&A practice group in the Brussels office. Charles-Antoine, Virginie, and Jens also join from DLA Piper. Cedric joins from Allen & Overy after gaining expertise at DLA Piper where he collaborated closely with partner Johan Mouraux of VBB Banking, Finance and Projects. Johan and his team moved from DLA Piper, where he was the head of the Belgian Banking, Finance and Projects unit, to VBB in January 2022.
