Combining Tradition and Tax Expertise

In May 2025, tax consultant Elena Esche joined Tom Kemcke’s private clients team at Esche Schümann Commichau. She will advise medium-sized family businesses and their shareholders. Her focus includes tax planning, inheritance tax, reorganisations, and succession strategies.

Elena has strong ties to ESCHE. She interned with Tom Kemcke’s team in 2009. Now, 16 years later, she returns with extensive tax expertise. She is also the granddaughter of name partner Dr Ernst Esche.

Previously, Elena was Head of Tax at New Work SE (formerly XING SE). She managed tax issues in Germany and abroad, led restructurings, and built a digital tax department. Before that, she spent over nine years at Ernst & Young as a senior manager, handling corporate succession, inheritance tax, and international tax structures.

‘Elena understands both global companies and family businesses,’ says Tom Kemcke, Partner at ESCHE. ‘Her return strengthens our team. I met Dr Esche in 1988, so I’m delighted she continues the family tradition.’

Elena will enhance ESCHE’s Private Clients tax team. She will focus on ongoing tax advice, inheritance tax structuring, and succession planning for family businesses.
